Located in Doncaster East, Donburn Primary School opened in 1973 and for over 40 years has prided itself on setting the highest standards of education and values, as demonstrated by our motto "Learning for Living".
Along with a comprehensive learning program, including English, Maths, Science, Technology, The Arts, Language, Health & Physical Education & Social Studies, Donburn Primary School also offers indoor and outdoor sports facilities including and indoor 1/2 court stadium, 2 outdoor basketball courts, several bat tennis courts and a large multipurpose sports oval with running track and fitness stations.
The school encourages an ‘open door’ approach where parent and community contribution and participation are valued. Strong community links are a feature of the school and the culture of a learning community is fostered through educational programs that cater for students, parents and teachers.
Donburn Primary School is located in the north east quadrant of the intersection of Doncaster and Blackburn Roads in the City of Manningham. The School's name reflects its geographical position. The current student population is 430 students.
Gardens and playgrounds combine with strategically placed buildings to provide a particularly healthy and attractive school setting.
Outdoor sports facilities include 5 play equipment stations catering for progressive development, extensive, well maintained asphalted areas including two basketball courts and several bat tennis courts and rebound wall. A highlight of our grounds is a large multi-purpose sports oval and running track with fitness stations. Attractive gardens have been designed with the purpose of providing a balance of open space and shaded areas.
There are currently twenty classrooms. This accommodation is supplemented by the Library, an Art room, a half court indoor stadium and a separate multi purpose hall.
The wider school community gives consistent and generous support to the school’s programs and resource provision. Staff and parents place the provision of resources as a high priority towards improving student outcomes. The premise that educational experiences are enhanced by close cooperation between home and school is supported and emphasised. Regular parent education and information sessions are held.
The School Council, principal, staff and parents have developed structures to encourage teamwork and cooperation which foster the growth of trust and community respect. The staff team is characterised by commitment, enthusiasm, creativity, success, hard work and a professional approach to the long term provision of quality educational programs.
