THE ARTS
Performing Arts
Music at Donburn is an essential part of the Performing Arts education of children and allows them to develop their skills during a 40-minute lesson each week.
The range of content provides students with a deeper understanding of Music composition, performance and aural perception. Throughout each topic studied pupils will continually enhance their confidence and social skills and enhance their understanding of Music’s influence within the world around them.
The Music program is specifically designed in line with the Victorian Curriculum standards. This encourages and allows pupils to inquire into diverse and culturally connected topics.
For those pupils interested in furthering their musical interests there are a range of opportunities for pupils to perform outside of the classroom including whole school assemblies, the school choir, small performing groups, who travel locally to perform, and a range of whole school shows and concerts throughout the year.
Visual Art
At Donburn Primary School, children have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of skills, techniques and art based processes in their weekly 60 minute lesson. Children paint, draw, construct, model, print, weave, sew, observe and write about the world looking through the lens of the visual arts.
Art lessons are in line with the Victorian Curriculum Standards. Students either extend learning from the classroom in art, or, participate in ‘stand-alone’ units that teach specific skills and conventions of art.
