THE HUMANITIES
The Humanities subjects taught at Donburn Primary School provide our students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of Australian society, societies in other countries, the local and global environment, how people share the environment and processes that have shaped the modern world.
In line with the Victorian Curriculum we teach the following sub stands of Humanities:
History
History promotes the understanding of societies, events, movements and developments that have shaped humanity from earliest times.
Geography
Geography allows students to explore, analyse and understand the characteristics of the places that make up our world, using the concepts of place, space, environment, interconnection, sustainability, scale and change.
Civics and Citizenship
Civics and Citizenship empower students to become active and informed citizens who participate in Australia’s democracy.
Economics and Business
Economics and Business provides develops students’ understandings of the economic and business decision-making process at the personal, local, national, regional and global levels and the effects of these decisions on themselves and others, now and in the future.
