SCIENCE
At Donburn Primary School the study of Science is not a stand-alone subject, but integrated into the Primary Years Program. All year levels, from Foundation to Year 6, work through the units of inquiry using Primary Connections. The study includes the four strands of science – biological, chemical, physical, earth and space sciences. The classroom teachers plan collaboratively to deliver the science sessions.
Students study a wide range of topics including life cycles, states of matter, energy, natural resources and sustainability. Students also use a wide range of science inquiry skills to build their understanding and knowledge of science.
The school has a number of vegetable gardens and students have the opportunity to grow vegetables, harvest and cook with the produce.
The School participates in Science Talent Search organised by Science Victoria and all students have the opportunity to enter this annual competition.
